Carta de un hijo a un Padre

LETTER FROM A CHILD TO ALL
THE MUMMIES AND DADDIES IN THE

1. Don’t shout at me. I respect you less when you do it, and you teach me to shout as well and I don’t want to do it.

2. Treat me cordially and with kindness, the same as you would your friends. Just because we’re family doesn’t mean we can’t be friends.

3. If I do something wrong, don’t ask me why I did it. Sometimes even I don’t know.

4. Don’t tell lies in front of me, nor ask me to tell them for you (even if it means getting you out of a fix). You make me loose faith in what you say and I feel bad.

5. When you make a mistake, admit it. It will improve my opinion of you and will teach me to admit my own errors.

6. Don’t compare me to anyone, especially to my siblings. If you make me look better, someone will suffer (and if you make me look worse, it will be me who suffers).

7. Let me help myself. If you do everything for me, I won’t be able to learn.

8. Don’t always give me orders. If instead of ordering me to do something, you ask me to, I will do it quicker and happier.

9. Don’t change your mind so often about what I should do. Make a decision and don’t change it.

10. Fulfil the good or bad promises. If you promise me a reward, give it to me, but also give me my punishment when due.

11. Try to understand me and help me. When I tell you about a problem don’t say “that isn’t important” because to me it is.

12. Don’t tell me to do something that you don’t do. I will learn and will always do what you do although you don’t tell me to. But I won’t do what you say and don’t do.

13. Don’t give me everything I ask you for. Sometimes I just ask you to see how much I can get.

14. Love me and tell me so. I like to hear you say it, although you don’t think you need to tell me.

Anonymous.
